August 28th was the 50th anniversary of the famous “I Have a Dream” speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  This poem is in response to a prompt found at  Writer’s Digest.

Mr. King had a beautiful dream
Content of character
Forming the opinions of people
Not the superficialities
Like the color of skin
Or eyes
Or hair
Or weight
Or height
Not by last name
Or religion
Or who you chose to love

Mr. King had a resplendent vision
People forming opinions
Based on nothing but
The contents of someone’s character

The content of character—
Your character
What does it contain?

You could give a very inspiring speech yourself. In fact, you just did.

    • Lol, I guess I just did indeed. Thanks Annie. 🙂
